Make this creamy, briny appetizer inspired by the classic cocktail. It requires no cooking and comes together fast, making it perfect for parties and entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz blue cheese, crumbled, divided
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup chopped green olives (pitted)
  • 1/2 cup olive brine
  • 2 oz gin (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Diced olives and olive oil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, half of the blue cheese, sour cream, chopped olives, olive brine, gin (if using), and garlic powder.
  2. Mix the ingredients until they are fully combined and smooth. You can use an electric mixer for a smoother texture.
  3. Season the dip with salt and pepper to your preference. Taste and adjust brine or seasoning as needed for the desired briny flavor.
  4. Transfer the dip to a serving dish, such as a martini glass or small bowl.
  5. Top the dip with the remaining crumbled blue cheese and a sprinkle of diced olives. Drizzle lightly with olive oil.
  6. Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve cold with crackers, pretzels, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a stronger cocktail flavor, add 1 tablespoon of dry vermouth along with the gin.
  • If you skip the gin, add a teaspoon of lemon juice for brightness.
  • This dip tastes better if you make it ahead of time; prepare it up to one day in advance.
  • Use high-quality green olives for the best flavor in this savory cheese dip.
