This recipe translates professional flavor into a quick, easy skillet meal. You get tender chicken thighs coated in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic glaze. It is a reliable, family-favorite dinner ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides evenly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken thighs in the hot skillet in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  3. Sear the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the garlic. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  6. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce while whisking constantly. Continue to cook and whisk until the sauce thickens into a sticky glaze, about 1 minute.
  7. Return the cooked chicken thighs to the skillet. Turn the chicken pieces to coat them completely in the thick honey garlic glaze.
  8. Remove from heat and serve immediately over rice or with your preferred side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use chicken thighs with the bone in and skin on; increase cooking time by about 5 minutes per side.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
  • This sticky honey garlic glaze works well for meal prep; store leftover sauce separately if you plan to reheat the chicken later.
