Make this creamy garlic parmesan chicken in your skillet for a quick, flavorful weeknight dinner. This recipe uses simple steps to create rich, tender chicken breasts coated in a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced or pounded to even thickness
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken fillets evenly with salt, pepper, and paprika. If using, sprinkle chili flakes over the chicken.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4 to 6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until you smell the aroma. Do not let the garlic burn.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the broth simmer for 1 minute.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  6. Reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened slightly. Taste the sauce and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  7. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet. Spoon the creamy sauce over the chicken. Let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes to heat through.
  8. Remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately with extra Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

  • Pounding the chicken breasts to an even thickness helps them cook uniformly and quickly, which is key for a fast skillet meal.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, let the cream simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes before adding the cheese.
  • Serve this juicy chicken breast dinner over pasta, rice, or with roasted vegetables for a complete family friendly chicken meal.
