A simple recipe for making crunchy, golden granola at home, perfect for yogurt or as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, mixed nuts, shredded coconut, chia seeds, cinnamon, and salt. Stir well.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the honey or maple syrup, oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Spread the granola mixture in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 25-35 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the granola is golden brown and crisp. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Let the granola cool completely on the baking sheet. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
  8. Once cooled, break up any large clumps and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add dried fruit like raisins or cranberries after the granola has cooled.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference by slightly altering the amount of honey or maple syrup.
  • Ensure you use rolled oats, not instant oats, for the best texture.
