Spicy jalapeño peppers filled with creamy cheese, wrapped in bacon, and baked until golden. A perfect appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large jalapeño peppers
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 slices bacon, cut in half

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise. Use a spoon to scrape out the seeds and membranes. Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon the cheese mixture evenly into each jalapeño half.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a piece of bacon, securing it with a toothpick if needed.
  6. Place the wrapped jalapeño poppers on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.
  8. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

  • For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños.
  • You can substitute other cheeses like Monterey Jack or pepper jack for the cheddar.
  • If you don’t want to use bacon, you can bake the poppers without it, or wrap them in prosciutto.
  • These poppers are best served immediately, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven.
