1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
1 (15 ounce) can water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
12 lasagna noodles
1 (16 ounce) container cottage cheese
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain off any excess fat.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, basil, oregano, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix cottage cheese, beaten egg, and Parmesan cheese.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Spread about 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
Spread half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles.
