A quick and flavorful marinade to tenderize tuna steaks for a restaurant-quality meal at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Place tuna steaks in a resealable bag or shallow dish.
  3. Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes. Do not over-marinate as the citrus can ‘cook’ the fish.
  5. Remove tuna from marinade and discard the used marinade.
  6. Cook tuna steaks as desired (grill, pan-sear, etc.).

Notes

  • For meal planning, you can marinate the tuna ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
  • This marinade is also great for other types of fish or even chicken.
