A simple recipe for warming spiced apple cider, perfect for autumn gatherings.

  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 4 whole allspice berries
  • 2 star anise

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and star anise in a slow cooker.
  2. Cover and cook on low for at least 2 hours, or until flavors have melded.
  3. Stir occasionally.
  4. Serve hot, ladling into mugs.

Notes

  • For an adult version, add a splash of rum or bourbon to individual mugs before serving.
  • This recipe can be made on the stovetop by simmering all ingredients in a pot over low heat for 1-2 hours.
