A warm and spiced apple cider, perfect for cozy days and gatherings. This recipe is easy to make and fills your home with a delightful aroma.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole star anise (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon whole allspice berries (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup rum or brandy (optional, for adult version)

Instructions

  1. Combine apple cider, orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise (if using), and allspice berries (if using) in a large pot or slow cooker.
  2. If you prefer a sweeter cider, stir in brown sugar.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat on the stovetop until it is hot but not boiling. If using a slow cooker, set it to low and cook for at least 2 hours.
  4. Simmer gently for at least 15-20 minutes on the stovetop to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. If making an adult version, stir in rum or brandy just before serving.
  6. Strain the cider to remove the spices and orange slices before serving.
  7. Ladle into mugs and serve hot.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, let the cider simmer for longer.
  • You can adjust the amount of spices to your preference.
  • This recipe is easily adaptable for a slow cooker.
  • Serve with a cinnamon stick for garnish.
