Ingredients
Scale
1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, lightly beaten
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¼ cup honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
Stir in salt, beaten egg, and melted butter.
Gradually add 3 ½ cups of flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until doubled in size.
Punch down dough and divide into 12-16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them close together in a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
Cover the pan and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While rolls are baking, prepare the cinnamon honey butter: In a small bowl, cream together softened butter, honey, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Serve warm rolls with cinnamon honey butter.
Notes
Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
Kneading develops the gluten, which is key to the fluffy texture.
A warm, draft-free place helps the dough rise best.
For a richer flavor, you can brush the tops of the baked rolls with a little melted butter.
